Graduation Centerpieces

Between me and my best friend we have 8 kids…5 daughter and son-in-laws…5 grandchildren…with two more on the way. So needless to say…

WE DO PARTIES…LOTS OF PARTIES

Her baby girl was graduating from college so we wanted to do something to make her party special. Unlike all the other kids, my friend reserved a resturant for the event…not because she is more special than the others…we are just tired…and it seemed like the easy thing to do. Which of course it was…but we couldn’t leave it at easy…she needed something to make her feel the love so we got busy.

I had found this picture in the new Semi-Homemade magazine…by the way can I take a moment to tell you just how much I am loving this magazine…

This was perfect. I had the vases left over from my daughter’s wedding. We had paid only $1.00 a piece for them which I thought was a bargain.

We hacked into her daughter’s Facebook…in case you didn’t know…old ladies can be pretty sneaky when we need to be….and downloaded some college pictures of her. We then just blew them up to 8×11 and placed them in the vase…easy.

Now we stood and looked at each other. Now what? The magazine used fake flowers. I am not a fake flower person…so what were we going to do with the water?

Lucky for me I hadn’t cleaned house. As I looked around there were water bottles everywhere. We simply cut the top off the water bottles and placed them in the vases.

We then taped the stems of the flowers together and put them in. Oops…they plopped to one side. Hmm…this wasn’t pretty. Again…look around my messy kitchen…papertowels…I stuffed a papertowel in around the stem and now the arrangement was perfect.

Gerber Daisies go for $3 each on Mother’s Day weekend so we had the perfect centerpiece for just $9.00.

It was a perfect celebration on the beach!
