When I saw these candles at Pottery Barn, my mind started spinning.
I have a ton of candles left over from my daughter’s wedding….so I pulled out a candle…my atlas…and my Modge Podge.
It was easy…the hardest part was trying to find a map in the atlas that my husband might not notice missing…heheee.
I wouldn’t want to burn the candle for a long time, but I thing it could set a mood for a farewell party…
Have you ever created a Pottery Barn knock-off? If so, what was it?

love your knock off! I recently acquired a road atlas at a garage sale for map projects- love this idea- I’m pinning it!
i love maps, this is a great knockoff! perfect with those binoculars.
Love your candles. They look fabulous. I just need to find some old maps or a great book. Hugs, marty

Love a good knock off!! And yep I try to make em all the time!
Nice! My daughter loves anything vintage. She would love these made with an “old world” looking map. Thanks for the idea!
Love that idea! I’m keeping an eye out for some old travel maps too while thrifting–great job.

Thank you for featuring me…
This is such a cute idea!! I acquired some maps of Michigan for a craft project that I’m doing from the Michigan DOT. They will send up to 6 free maps to your home. I’m not sure if other states do that, but it’s worth a try. Free is good!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Your knock off turned out great and you’re right, it would ideal for a farewell gift.

You’re my DIY rockstar of the day! I’m digging out some atlas pages and candles as soon as I send this off to you! I am going to scan the atlas pages and fade them, then print and apply to candles. I’ll add the faded scans on my blog later today. I’m now following your blog. Love it. – Terry-Anne
Thank you….enjoy

If you’re worried about messing up the look of the candle by burning it, just burn it enough to fit a tea-light inside. Then just use the tea-light and the candle will always look great.
Wow….that is really a good idea! thanks
Love this idea. I love old maps but I love candles more. How about wrapping inexpensive glass candle holders with the maps and place candles inside. Haven’t tried it but I think I will.
What a great idea!
