As I plan my new house, my head is spinning with everything there is to think about…
When I had planned my family room I live in now, I had imagined a fireplace in it…but as the budget got tighter I decided that for a price of a fireplace I could buy some pretty nice furniture. Sure there have been times that I wish I had a fireplace…mostly at Christmas when I have visions of a beautifully decorated mantel.
So of course when I started designing my new house a fireplace quickly went in the sketch. And of course my flat screen TV would go above it…
This makes me giggle…I used to hate the sight and idea of a tv so much that in our early years we use to keep our 12 inch tv in the closet and just pull it out when we wanted to watch it. Boy have times changed.
We now have a 50 inch tv…which got me thinking …how big does my fireplace have to be for the TV to look right above it?
Am I really going to be able to decorate the mantel? I can see my son-in-law removing these flowers to be able to see the game better.
So do I just go without a mantel all together?
And if I’m not going to have a mantel to decorate…why have a fireplace to decorate? Why am I spending the money at all? I mean, I live in Florida..not like I really NEED a fireplace..
Please give me some advice…is a fireplace a lot of work to take care of? Would I just be better off with a fire pit outside? Come on gang…I know you have an opinion…let me hear it.
