Planning the Seating for a Wedding

It is hard to believe that it has been almost three years since the wedding event of the century took place. Ok , maybe it wasn’t the event of the century for everyone else but it certainly was for our family…It was my daughter’s wedding. Everything was planned to the last detail…Our family is kind of known for over-thinking things so I wasn’t really sure how my new son in-law was going to hold up through it all, but he was a real trooper.

The one thing about weddings that you always hear people complain about is the table seating. I guess it can be a real nightmare, but not for us! I had a friend share with me how she does seating arrangements and it worked like a charm.

Everyone’s name got written on a post it note. They were divided into three colors…our family..his family and their mutual friends. We then took paper plates and laid them around on the floor in the same design as the tables will be the night of the reception.

We then started placing people…It was easy this way to see if someone was sitting too close or too far away from the dance floor…Not only just who was sitting by that person but who was all around them. It took many times before we got it right, but because they were written on post it notes changes were easy.

This is the one part of the wedding that my son in-law and I did together and I have to say we actually had fun doing it. So if you are planning a wedding…get out the paper plates.. but refrain from saying…dear will you buy some paper plates for the wedding…it might freak out the bride…

  1. That’s how I did it for our wedding! It was an excellent and easy way to get the task done and to see what it would look like. Hope you’re having a grand evening. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
