True Forgiveness

I have just loved learning everything that Joseph has had to teach me in Genesis…until this last part.

In case you’ve missed my previous posts about Joseph, take a minute to catch up.

I found myself reading this last part over and over again trying to figure out what it was that I was supposed to take from it…and then I got it. It is a lesson of total forgivness…

I’m not talking about just forgiveness…I’m talking about complete forgiveness….forgivness that only someone that is totally in sync with God can give.

Read Chapter 45…Joseph tells them over and over…I am not here because of you…God sent me. Think about that. No one can ever move you from where God wants you. Joseph had stopped taking his eyes off of what his brothers had done and started focusing on why God wanted him here.Either everything that has happened in my life God either did or allowed .

As I read thisĀ it got thinking about the book of John where Jesus says over and over “my Father sent me”. I found 16 times just in the book of John that he says this. Jesus knew that God was in control…it was the Heavenly Father who placed him where he was…with that knowledge no one could hurt him…no matter what they did.

Genesis 50:19-20….Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good….

“Am I in the place of God?” Wow…there was no hurt behind those words..just complete acceptance that God is in control…

So as this Easter season passes may we all learn to trust God and know that he has us right where he wants us for such a time as this…

  1. Total forgiveness is something I need to work on. It’s really hard in some cases for me. It’s one more way I can strive to be like Christ. I definitely need to work on that.
Thank you for the study, Dianne. It’s been a true blessing!
