Have you ever found yourself in the situation where you just know that there is something wrong with your oven? Ever since we have moved into the cottage, I knew something was just not right. For the most part the oven worked just fine…but whenever we would try to bake, it just wasn’t right. My daughter and I have just been living with it, but one day it came up in front of Mr. Amazing.
He said so matter of factly..like he often does…that it sounds like the temperature needs to be adjusted. Well I thought that I had been doing that by putting things in a little bit longer but I just could never get it right.
Well who knew it could be so simple to fix it the right way…
First you buy an oven thermometer…about 5 bucks
Put it in your oven and then turn the oven on. When your oven says it is 350 degrees look to see what the thermometer says…
You then take off the oven knob…Just gently pull it straight out.
Use a screwdriver to loosen the adjustment knobs on the back of the knob, then gently adjust the dial face back and forth until the dial temperature matches the temperature shown in the oven. Just a little trial and error. When the knob and the dial on the oven thermometer match, gently snug up the screw on the back of the dial.
Presto…the oven now works great!
Since I didn’t know about this easy fix I thought maybe some of you didn’t either.
A $5 fix sure beats the cost of a new oven!

Wow!!! I did not know this!!! I’ll have to try it. So what do I do when I still burn everything???
We just left the thermometer in the oven and raised the
temperature until it matched the thermometer.
Our last oven was a piece of work. It would read the temp that you
wanted and then when it circled off it would never get to the same
temperature unless you turned if off and then back on.
Gave up and replaced the stove before it was 5 years old.
Love my new stove. No problems knock on wood.
