So if you were to have a “study,” what would it look like? Our new house has a room that is off of the foyer. It will have glass doors going into it (my daughter is 14…I don’t want any privacy in public areas for when those boys start showing up)

First of all, I am not sure what to call it. I was calling it a study but that seems kind of silly….what are we studing?

Then I thought “The Library”…you have to say it with an English accent to get the desired effect I’m going for. Doesn’t it make us sound rich? And very smart? The problem is, we live just a block and a half from the public library and I think we might get confused about where we are talking about.

There is always …”the game room”…which is what my daughter wants it to be called. But it’s not like I am going to put a pool table in there. We will probably have a TV with the wii hooked up. Does that count as a game room?

The “craft room” is what I thought in the beginning it would be…and it will still be that in a way…but the name just brings visions of a mess to my mind.

You may be wondering why I am taking such care as to what to name it…well…I have found that names can really change your attitude. Before we moved into our little 500 sq foot humble abode, formally called “The Hut”, I told everyone we were going to call it …”The Cottage.” I think that simple name change has changed our attitudes about our living space.

A cottage is quaint…charming..a place that feels safe and cozy. I love telling people that I live in a cottage.

So help me out folks…what should my room be called?

    How about “den”?

Two of the pictures look like an office to me! My daughter has the room with the glass doors (closed when she is working) but the kids can use the computer for homework. They call it an office.

I have friends who have rooms just like the ones you’ve pinned, right off the foyer. They call them “the office”. :)
