Tropical Storm Debby won’t go away!

We have had quite the week around here….Tropical storm Debby decided to come and visit….and has been in no hurry to leave. Here in south Florida we are use to our rain coming …and going in the matter of a hour or two. Days of gloom are just not something that we have to deal with…until now.

What looked like this on Father’s Day

Photo: Love this photo of our little family.

(That’s my son inlaw…daughter, and my precious little grandson!)

Now looks like this….

All this weather has allowed me WAY to much time on Pinterest and Houzz.

As a result, the building project keeps growing…and growing.

Oh I have to have this molding…

Molding

and that molding…

And since my husband will be doing most of this work, due to budgeting constraints, the new projected move in date is…….March 2015….lol.

The point is that we all need to remember to keep realistic expectations in this life and not be pressured into wanting it all and in the pursuit of that, getting nothing.

Years ago I had a friend whose husband would not let her buy any magazines…I thought that he was a terrible control freak…and he was, but he was right in a way. He believed that magazines just make us unhappy with what we have. Pictures of beautiful houses..tell us that what we have isn’t good enough. Pictures of beautiful women tell us that we aren’t good enough. Surveys we take in them tell us our relationships aren’t good enough. We have to be careful what we look at…Satan will take the most innocent thing and let it eat at us from the inside out.

He wants us to be so consumed with what we don’t have, that we forget what we do have. He wants us to dwell on those things rather than on the Heavenly Father that loves us. Or on the work that we were really placed on this earth to do.

So what is this storm teaching me? What we NEED is shelter…everything else is just fluff.

  3. I so agree with this post…thanks for the reminder. I do alot of day dreaming and list-making in my home/garden notebook, but I am so thankful for my home and all that God has blessed me with.
