The house is getting to look more and more like a home. We still seem to be on schedule to get in the house in time for my daughter’s birthday…Oct. 2nd.
We have been very busy picking out tile and carpet and all of the other many many things that it takes to make a home. On top of all that we have been busy adding the batten board…http://www.theinspiredhousewife.com/2012/08/making-batten-board-walls/
wood ceilings…http://www.theinspiredhousewife.com/2012/08/from-trash-to-treasure/
and now the dining room posts/bookcases. I am so excited how they are looking! I really like how they are going to make the kitchen and the dining room open to each other and yet separate. They have the right mixture of casual elegance that I love in a space.
I guess I should claify the “we”…
Mr. amazing has been putting in long nights trying to get things done as I basically watch and take pictures….once in a while I need to hold a board but most of the inside work has been a solo job. Now it is time for the painter to do his magic.
I would love to hear if you live in a craftsman home. The more Mr. Amazing does the more I understand that term…The men that built those homes were true craftsmen.

Oh Diane! Your home is really coming together nicely! Love that window and the picture from the outside. I’ve always admired the craftsman style home. You and Mr. Amazing make a great team!
Dianne: Your new house is getting more beautiful eash day.
I am loving the new bookcases. Are these in the dining room?
Can’t wait to see the new beautiful home that you and Mr.
Amazing are creating.
Denise
Thanks…the bookcase side is in the kitchen…the batton board side is the diningroom.
Hi Diane…My house is a craftswoman house. I’m the one who stains, paints, repairs & builds in the house, while my husband helps me if things are too heavy for me & the kids to move, or when I get too frustrate to continue.
Thank you because you inspired me to do it! You talked about how in your 1st house your had the confidence to make it look better. My house was bought when I was single, and it’s a fixer-upper. That was 12 years ago & it’s still a fixer-upper because we can’t afford to hire someone. Something you said, & I don’t remember what it was, made me realize “well, my house can’t look any crappier.” With that one comment, I have since fixed the broken screen door (replaced the windows & screens & handle & re-bent the metal into place). It’s nice to have a door that closes properly, and the dogs can’t push it open (it had been broken for 4 years.) Next weekend we are replacing the people-door on our garage. The door frame needs to be rebuilt as well, but I think we can do it! Thank you for your support, even when you don’t realize you are giving it!
You rock girl! I am so proud of you. My one daughter is single and 31..she is not afraid to tackle anything…I admire women like you all so much. Let me know how the door project goes…
