Our wood ceilings are finally done!!!!! It has been a long process from removing the wood from the old house…to planing the wood ..to hanging the wood and then staining the wood but now when I see the final product I am soooo happy we did it!
Originally we were going to stain the wood before we hung it.
That proved to be back breaking work. We quickly decided that we would just stain them once they were up. I am so glad we did. I can’t imagine how I would have felt seeing beautiful stain boards being tossed in the dumpster because they were warped or the tongue or groove were messed up.
It ended up being pretty easy to stain them when they were up because of the product we used…

You just brush it on like paint…no wiping off like you normally do with stain.
Let me tell you about my wood ceilings….I loved them when they were just the bare wood..in fact I really pondered if I wanted to stain them at all.
I then loved them with just one coat of stain on them. We talked long and hard about what we were to do at this point. Would we just mess up what we now love? We decided to stain a scrap piece of wood and decide. We decided that we would love it even more…we think. The can says two coats, so that was the deciding factor…two coats it would be.
wow…I had no idea that a pile of old crappy boards could end up looking so beautiful.

Oh Dianne!!! It’s the most beautiful ceiling I’ve ever seen!!!
I’ve seen plenty of wood ceilings—not one compares.
Oh thank you!!!!!!!! I must admit that there were times that I thought I might be crazy…the boards were pretty ugly but I am sooooo happy how they turned out!
Oh my gosh! It looks AMAZING!! Kudos to you all!!!
So gorgeous and great choice with two coats – so rich and smooth looking! I just showed my husband “THIS is what I want when we build a house!”
