Have you ever had one of those moments when you wonder if you are the only one that didn’t know this? Well Mr. Amazing and I definitely had one of those moments.
I am probably one of Sherwin Williams biggest supporters….We are ALWAYS painting something at our house. And when I say painting, I mean multiple times. I am VERY picky when it comes to color….and I have a very supportive husband which means lots of painting and repainting. I think we painted our bathroom five different colors once in the course of a week, trying to find that perfect shade of blue.
So having paint made up in quart sizes is just natural for us. But today when we went, the man told us..”why don’t you just buy a sample quart?” My husband inquired further and the man explained that it is made up of really cheap paint, nothing you would want to use as a finish coat, but if you put two coats on you can get an idea of what the good paint will look like….oh, and it’s only $6.00
What???? Why didn’t someone tell us sooner? We probably have spent around $5,000 over the years on the wrong paint. Then the man went on….
He told us that many times people will buy the cheap version for their first coat and then buy the expensive paint for the final coat.
No more feeling guilty about how many test cans I buy.
I just might get one in every color.

I don’t own my own house (yet), but will definitely keep this in mind! So no, you and your husband aren’t the only ones who didn’t know about this money saving tip!
And I LOVE the last beige/taupe color on the house!
What a great tip!
