I got to enjoy one of my favorite things to do yesterday. Any idea what that might be????
Two of my four daughters went to Goodwill with me. I always love being with my kids but there is something about being at Goodwill with them that just makes me smile. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I used to hang out there with my mom…it’s like passing on a legacy.
Shopping at Goodwill is not about what you see…it’s about what you can imagine. Take this folding table we found…
Isn’t it just the cutest? What do you see when you see it? I see it painted bright green with a piece of glass on it as a desk in my daughter’s room… Or maybe painted navy blue to use on the back porch for drinks when we have company. Or it could be painted white and used as a nightstand between the beds in the guest room. I just knew for $29 I couldn’t pass it up.
I also found these chairs…
Where are these going? Your guess is as good as mine. I really wish there had been four of them then my diningroom chair dilemma would be over….but there isn’t…that’s the way thrift shopping is.
So for $24 a piece the question is …do I need them? SURE! Maybe I will use one as a desk chair up to the table I bought…hmmm maybe the desk should be white and the chair bright green.
I’ll let you know what happens to it all…in the mean time this thrift shopper is happy that she will soon have a house that she can decorate. What have you bought recently at the thrift store?

Love the chairs, what a lucky find. But have you thought about going ahead and using them in the dining room? One at each “head of table” end, then wood chairs along the sides. I’ve seen it done many times and it looks amazing! Just a thought
Can’t wait to see the house!!!
Thanks Jill. I have thought about that and I guess if I find four great chairs I might consider it but I was really was thinking about having four matching chairs and a bench. we had this when the kids were little and it was great…you can always squeeze one more kid in…and with having 3 grandkids in 18 months who knows how many we will end up with.

Here is a link I found. Scroll down, it’s the second to the last photo at the bottom. But I do like your idea of a bench. It’s nice for a crowd.
One of my trips to Goodwill this summer I found 2 large aqua Ball jars! I was so excited! I had them on the mantel with summer decorations. Recently found some candlesticks and a wood box I plan to paint. I never find any useful furniture at the Goodwill store near me. I really like your finds!
I found three shirts for this fall and a great quilted down type vest to wear in the cooler weather. I go on an outdoor school, three day field trip with my daughter in October, in upper Pennsylvania, and it’s often chilly. I thought a vest would be a great addition to my wardrobe. I can’t wait to wear it but it’s not cool enough yet. I’m trying not to buy household things because we might move. It’s hard not to. I love collecting pretty things.
Okay, what fabulous finds! I cannot wait to see what you do with them. Thank you for sharing. Would love it if you would share this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2012/09/make-it-pretty-monday-week-14.html Hope to see you at the bash!
