If you read my last post, then you know that I am taking a look at the HGTV Dream Home and figuring out what we can all learn from it.
Today I thought we would look at the bedrooms…
This is the master bedroom…

The first thing that I notice about this room is the rug. I think a bedroom is a great place to go a little bolder on your floor. Just don’t forget to make it feel good on the bare feet.

I tried to put my desk next to my bed, but I felt like I might hit my head on it while I was sleeping. I do like how the furniture doesn’t all match …once again giving the feel that it had been gathered over time.

I love these ….my daughter made some very much like this for under $20 each….I have no idea what HGTV paid for them but I bet it was more than that.

I would like to figure out how to make some pictures like this for my bedroom.

I love just about everything blue, so this room attracts my eye . However, there is something about it that makes it still feel a bit cold to me. I’m not a big fan of the ottoman…I think the room would feel a bit warmer if it had a full bench at the end of the bed.
This room and the next have something about them that bugs me.

I personally always like a bedroom set up so that the bed is the focal point when you walk into a room. I know that is not always possible, but it’s just one of my personal pet peeves.
Tell me what you think of the color choice for this room…would you put these colors together?
Don’t let the color of the walls make you miss the great paint treatment they used

This is such an easy idea and it makes a huge statement. You simply paint one stripe with flat paint and the other in gloss.
If you go back and look at all these bedrooms, there is one thing that we can all do without spending too much….

Plants….what a great way to warm a space up. I read once that every room should have a living thing in it.
My question today is….would you buy tourquise furniture? And if you did what color walls would you put with it?
Personally I might….but it would have to go with a lot of white.

I am not a decorator of my home, it is probably the most undecorated house around. But I am enjoying ‘analyzing’ with you –
as for the 2nd bedroom, I agree it is too bland – and I do not like the tall bedpost, takes away from the open feeling the room could have. Maybe a colored window treatment? As for those wall prints – I think this is what you are looking for – http://alphamom.com/family-fun/crafts/making-sun-prints-with-children-burning-daylight-sun-print-results/ Looks fairly easy to do.
here are a few more links – http://www.sunprints.org/
or this- but skip the toning – http://www.bluesunprints.com/how-to-make-sunprints-printing-and-toning-instructions.html
and http://www.homemadesimple.com/en-US/Crafts/Pages/simple-sun-print-project.aspx – there is so much you can do with this and the colors would be great for your room.
as for the turquoise, I probably would not buy furniture that color- but I am a wood lover. and I def would not like that room with so much blue/turquoise walls,, makes me feel like you are underwater or something. I think the furniture would look great against a tan or cream background, or even a fun orange/rust for a contrast.
What a cool idea–I think that blue wall art is just made from sun paper! I loved that when I was a kid.

That would be a great craft; you could even get the family involved–I think clearly you’d need to incorporate seashells
