Happy New Year!!!!!

I would love to hear what your new year’s traditions are…..we have NONE!
We have never known what to do with ourselves on this holiday….we don’t drink, so most people don’t tend to invite us to their parties on New Year’s Eve.
We are not big sports people, so we don’t tend to get invited to New Year Day events either.
To top it off…we have been parents of young children for the past 32 years so we tend to just stay home…watch Dick Clark and do the count down.
I know…pretty boring. I get it. I tend to hate this holiday because the lack of no plan stresses me out.
One year we invited all of our kids…and their boyfriends, to stay at the Grand Floridian at Disney World with us . It was WONDERFUL!
I remember looking at my husband and saying….We can do this every year! He quickly looked at me with panic in his eyes and said…NO WE CAN’T!
So now we are back to our boring …traditional-less New Years.
I would love to hear some ideas that I might be able to plan for next year….I really don’t want anything that takes a lot of work…My house has pretty much an open door at Christmas time and I am done cooking for a while so it would have to be simple.
Here is an idea that my daughter asked if we could do this year and then read them next New Years….I was so proud of my 15 year old for wanting to do this you can bet it will be on the top of my new traditions list.
It is from Deut. 4:9 Do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
We are going to get a jar and writing blessings on it. Then all year we will write down things that blessed us this year. Then on New Years next year we will read them out loud.
I am so excited…we often forget to pause to ponder our blessings in our heart and then to share them so our family will never forget how good God is to us.
Have you ever done a Blessing Jar?

Dianne! We are in a similar situation, and yesterday I thought our tradition was lame, until I was telling an acquaintance & she asked if she could join… every year we have “movie night” where we pick a theme & watch movies, watch the ball drop in NYC, & watch some more movies, while munching on appetizers, drinking soda, & enjoying our time together.
Last year it was scary movie night, this year was Steve Carrell movies. We’ve also had Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, and Rifleman marathons. I’ve always thought it wasn’t “fun”, but it seems that there are more of us that enjoy the quiet comforts of friendships.
Next year we are opening it up to other friends & family: inviting them to bring their favorite movie that fits into next year’s theme & an appetizer.
