HGTV Design Fun

This is going to be my last post about the HGTV dream home. I hate going too long on one subject for fear of boring my readers, but I thought there was one more thing we needed to look at. It’s what I am calling fun space.

I just love this space! I love the colors but most of all I love how they took a space and instead of filling it with chairs that no one would probably ever sit in, they made a place that would be fun for grandkids to spend the night….or for a grown up to take a nap. I love that they have a curtain that can be pulled to hide you away from the world. I must admit…I have been walking all around my house trying to figure out how I could do a spot like this.

Check out those handles….I love them! They give such a nautical look to a piece of furnitureĀ in such a clean way.

The last room I want to show you is the playroom..

I want to stay in this room….I love the swinging beds…and the ping pong table in the room…did you notice the paddles on the wall?

Isn’t that a cute idea? The only thing I would do different is to make a place for the ping pong balls to sit.

This room reminds me of laughter…maybe because I have great ping pong memories as a kid. Little known fact about me…I was the ping pong champion of my elementary school….hehehe…it is my one claim to fame.

The HGTV lesson for today is…remember to make your house fun. It is so easy for all of us to get bogged down into having the “perfect” house that sometimes we forget that we want it to be a place that people think of andĀ remember good times. At least that is what I want in a home.

So tell me something fun you have in your house.

Hi love the blue room with the bunks! Not so sure about the play room with the swinging beds – that’s what would happen with my grandsons! They would be flying! Our fun place is the lower level (basement) that my husband finished off several years ago. We have a pool table, game area, bar and tv area. The kids and grandkids hang out there.

    • Heheheh…I actually thought about those beds swinging too. Living in Florida we don’t have a basement to make fun…I guess most of us would just say the pool area is the fun place but that feels like I’m cheating. I am trying to figure out how to make our study area a fun place too…I’ll keep you posted on how I do with that.
