Celebrating Halloween

I went to my first Halloween party in years this weekend .

We had a great time dressing up.

Halloween 2013

And  we had a great time with friends.

But the crowd was very interesting…not the usual group that I hang with.

There were so many woman out there that were willing to do anything to try to look “Beautiful”  It is so sad that people don’t understand that true beauty comes from within. It was sad to watch people that were trying to find joy by drinking, and yet not knowing that true joy can only come from above.

I have always felt as a Christian that I was not going to give Satan one day in my life. That means that I don’t try to dwell on him on Halloween and think on things that are dark.

So I found myself drawn to the couple that was dressed as a King and Queen…they were the cutest little old couple. I also loved the young couple dressed as snow white and Prince charming.

The big winner of the night was the Transformer…

This was one awesome costume…the lights even light up. I can tell you that it wasn’t the most comfortable costume as he couldn’t sit in the thing or even drink without help.

Here are some costume advice ideas that I learned…

1. find something comfortable to wear…including shoes…my feet still hurt from dancing in heels.

2. As fun as feather boa’s are, they  can be scratchy

3. Your children are watching…I started the costume hunt by finding a black dress thinking I can surely do something with that…if nothing else, I could be a witch. I don’t know why I said that…I have never, even as a child, dressed up as a good or bad witch. My teen’s ears perked up and she quickly said…you would never let me be a witch, why can you? I’m glad I didn’t do that.

4. If you are going to wear a feather boa, don’t spend the day before vacuming…you will regret it.

When was the last time you dressed up for Halloween? Do you buy or make your costumes?

By the way…my favorite scary movie is Don Knotts in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

What is your favorite scary movie?

Great looking couple! I don’t remember the last time I dressed up. I agree, as a christian I do mot focus on the dark side Halloween stands for. And Halloween tends to be a license to “dress” in very un-Godly ways. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a very nice party!

Happy (not so haunted) Halloween :)
